Athens State University will be adding 3 new business majors to their Spring Curriculum starting January 2010 -Acquisition and Contract Management , Enterprise Systems Management (Enterprise Resource Planning), and Logistics and Supply Chair Management. These programs have been designed to support the Huntsville, Al BRAC initiative.
The university is starting the new programs to aid the long term needs of the workforce that will be employed on Redstone Arsenal and the North Alabama and Southern Tennessee.
Many of the jobs BRAC is bringing to the arsenal require skill sets offered through the three new majors. The majors will be taught from a government contracting and management perspective since the large number of jobs are directly related to the arsenal.
The courses will be taught on line and in a traditional format at Redstone Arsenal. “Athens State is responding to a direct workforce development need as part of the Base Realignment and Closing effort. Large numbers of the jobs that will be coming to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Al and the Tennessee Valley will be directly tied to work in these tree areas. We believe these three majors will open significant career opportunities for our students,” said Athens State President Bob Glenn.
